ASCII History of Moving Images.
Vuk Cosic, is the founder of the term net.art which is used to describe internet-based art. His 4 years research has led him to produce works using ASCII ( American Standard Code for Information Exchange) to make moving images by converting/digitalizing old movie flicks.
A unique conceptual art that extend the boundaries of portraying the world in a 3-dimensional perspective but with basic technological easthetic of the past. Early computer end-users would utilize ASCII symbols to formulate moving and non-moving images. However, the emergence of internet-based platforms enabled the artist to further explore this method as a new art form.
I was fascinated by this new form of digital representation, the overall effect of the green semiotic symbols reminded me of a scene out of the ‘Matrix’ and i thought it was pretty neat..
