Scary Mary

As I have been in school and developing myself as an artist, I have found that my work usually tends to push some sort of social justice issue. From many of my classes I have learned about tons of misconceptions, malpractices, cruelty, and problems that are just unknown to the uneducated public. I have looked to art as my voice to let these concerns be heard.

I am very passionate about this, but I am struggling with myself because of it. As an artist I also want to express beauty, creative experimentation, things that are nice to look at (but still have conceptual significance), and comedy.

In this youtube appropriation project my goal will be to set the social justice issues aside for a moment, to explore another side of what I am capable of through my work. In researching I came across this…

I love how this video completely flipped the foundation from which Mary Poppins was based upon… and it’s hilarious! This is perfect inspiration for me. I hope that others will appreciate it too!
