Super Mario Movie

Cory Arcangel :  Super Mario Movie

Super Mario Movie is a 15 minute long movie produced by Cory Arcangel. His work mostly dwells with the relation-ship between technology and contemporary culture . This movie is a collaborative work between himself and Paper Rad Art Collective.

I enjoyed this movie mainly because of it’s story line that revolves around Mario while he questions his own existence and wonders through a corrupted land.

In my opinion, i find this work interesting although it doesn’t use fancy graphics and the idea that Mario starts to question his own existence share some significant correlation to us as we question our existence in this world. This game truly brings back memories for all those of us who were growing up playing the game.

In this work, Cory appropriated a 1983 invention then replaced the Super Mario brother’s game code with his own source code. Enjoy..
