E-Mail Erosion

While browsing around Rhisome I found a piece created in 2006 by Etham Ham that I feel completely relates to our last project. This installation uses the internet and automatically creates sculptures based on e-mails / spam, which triggers the sculpting process. The styrofoam in the middle is biodegradable, and is sculpted by the eroder (moving sprayer) squirting coloured water onto the foam. I found this interesting because it is making a physical representation of the content found in the spam and e-mails. I’m not exactly sure what triggers the spraying / colour differentiation but it’s still a really interesting concept.
