I also looked at some of Mark Napier’s work for this post. When browsing his website potatoland I found a piece titled ‘dmachine‘. This piece opens in a new window and is a series of images that are edited into smaller sections, rearranged as well as background colouring changes. The longer you allow the piece to change, the pictures slowly changes as well as font and text is integrated into the piece. It is also interactive when your computer cursor is moved over different places on the screen it allows the viewer to slow down or speeds up the pace of the piece.
I personally love pieces like this because it allows the viewer to appreciate the piece for what it is and to be seen the way the artist intended while allowing them to also become interactive with the piece while viewing. When I first saw it I thought of it as a ‘photo remix’ because it’s rearranging the intended layout of the picture. I almost would have enjoyed it better if there was sound, cause without the sound i felt like there was something missing.
*Sorry about not being able to post the actual piece here, it needs to be opened in a seperate window*
