i thought i would search up some dirt on this guy, turns out i found a lot of interesting stuff. a lot of his works remind me of when i tried to get a commodor 64 sound chip to make music. (crystal castles anyone?) but people started raising the prices due to the high demand of them on ebay and such. anyways here is an hour long video of him presenting a portion of his work at columbia university.cory arcangel

this stuff is almost at the centre of new media so i thought it would be appropriate to share.! you can probably skip the first 10 minutes or so until it gets into his little quicktime hacks “ram diaries”. there’s a definite amount of appropriated aesthetics to take note and be mindful of when even thinking about new media. he even discusses how to hack and change graphics and data chips within videogame cartridges, which can definitely be a fun project if you’re bored.
